John Sanders
I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and spent most of my years in the Piedmont Region of Georgia between Atlanta and Athens. While the southeast offers plenty of access to outdoor activities and has its own uniqueness and beauty, I have always longed to live and play amongst the snowy mountains, raging rivers, and vast wilderness that we have here in the Rockies. I am extremely grateful that my path has led me here and that I have now landed with the MtnStuff team.

A family ski trip to Colorado was the initial spark of excitement for the mountains in my kindergarten-self that still exists in me today. Over the ensuing years, I continued chasing mountain experiences both out west and around the home, further growing my passion for the sports, culture, and industry of the outdoors.

After a couple of colleges summers working at an outfitter in Jackson, WY, and a few years working retail with High Country Outfitters in Athens, GA, I became confident about pursuing a career in the outdoor industry, and sales rep roles were especially intriguing to me. Post-graduation, I decided to make what I thought was going to be a permanent move out west for a sales internship in Park City, UT. Unfortunately, a ski accident derailed my plans, bringing me back to Atlanta for surgeries and physical therapy. But not too much time passed before a backpacking trip through SE Asia rejuvenated my spirit for adventure and reignited my desire to keep pursuing my outdoor goals.

I eventually landed a marketing job with Vail Resorts in Denver – giving me the green light to make the move to this wonderful part of the country, where I have had a blast exploring the surrounding wilderness via bike, skis, boats, and boots. Getting my foot back into the industry after a brief stint with a digital marketing agency in Atlanta was a key move in my career, and dreams of hitting the road as a sales rep remained top of mind.  

The door into outdoor sales was finally opened to me through the amazing team here at MtnStuff. Meeting with the team, I was immediately struck by the sense of camaraderie, level of experience and expertise, and overall passion for the industry that each member possessed. I am incredibly stoked to begin this journey of representing our industry-leading brands and serving our well-respected network of retailers throughout the Rockies.
