Hand crafted in San Jose, CA, Western Mountaineering and its owner Gary Schaezlein have been producing down products with the highest quality materials available. Founded in the mid 70’s, Gary committed to make down products that used only the best raw materials with meticulous design and unsurpassed workmanship.

Mtn Stuff joined Western Mountaineering in 2001 as their reps in the Rocky Mountains after years of pestering them about it! Western Mountaineering’s quality, domestic production and specialty retailer focus is what inspired Mtn Stuff to represent this amazing brand. In fact, Western Mountaineering’s goose down supply is not only 100% traceable, but also at times exceeds the tests that are designed to rate it. These test results often surpass the 900 fill rating mark, and have been as high as 960. There is no better down offered in the US market.

Today, still made in San Jose and owned by Gary Schaezlein, Western Mountaineering and Mtn Stuff offer Rocky Mountain specialty retails down bags, apparel and booties, in addition to throws and pillows.
