Growing up in Colorado I was lucky enough to begin exploring the mountains through recreation at a young age. It was a summer camp in Durango and family who help me cultivate my passions for the outdoors setting the stage for the rest of my life. I remember moving to Gunnison to attend Western State University’s Outdoor Ed program and realizing how vast the outdoor world really is. I quickly began to expand my efforts in the outdoors and through the University’s outdoor programs began providing education through classes and guided trips to my fellow students, faculty, and community members. Because of my combination of education and recreation many of my values now are tied to developing a strong “sense of place” wherever I go.
Shortly after graduation my now Fiancé and I moved to Oregon in order to expand our understanding of the world and how to recreate in it. Oregon quickly showed us how exciting and different having rainforest, ocean, and volcanic mountains really are. After spending two years there we started to feel a longing for the High Alpine Forests of Colorado where we both met and grew up and moved back in the summer of 2020.
Excited to be home we quickly began putting our roots back down. She is a current grad student and instructor at CSU Fort Collins. I soon found myself back in the world of specialty ski retail making ski recommendations, boot fitting, and sharing my knowledge of all things technical wear. I joined MtnStuff after being back home for around a year. Moving over to the Rep world had always been on my mind, I just needed the right avenue to pursue it, MtnStuff was a no-brainer. After meeting with the team on an individual level their breadth of knowledge and passion became immediately apparent. Being able to find a group committed to building relationships with their retailers and providing thorough education I instantly felt that we were similar in our pursuits.
